Producertech
This video shows you how to analyse a tune in Ableton to better understand how it was mixed. Do you use a reference track to help you get a different perspective on your mix? Do you A/B test? In the clip, cut from one of our recent Q&A livestreams for members, Rob takes a tune he likes (in this case Krafty Kuts – Plastic Wax) and uses a number of plugins to take a look ‘under the hood’ and figure out where sounds sit in the mix. Where is most of the stereo information occuring? Why do different parts of the track sound bigger? What does the side information look like? Paying attention to the information found in your favourite record can really make the difference when it comes to your own mix!
