Who is your Mixing and mastering engineer?
Your mixing and Mastering engineer is Ray Gritter. Born in Amsterdam, Holland and mixing and mastering music full time since 2010.
I started this online mixing and mastering service to help other artists get the same high quality online mixing and mastering services that major label artists also get. My mission is to make every client 100% happy with their music/song when it is finished.
Why Online Mixing and Mastering Services?
Music mixing and mastering are two different skills, but they are equally important in the audio production process. Mixing is the first step, where the mix engineer mixes and edits the individual audio tracks from your DAW into a single stereo music file. During mixing, your recorded audio tracks are mixed using EQ, compression and adding effects such as reverb and delay, while balancing volume, frequencies, dynamics and spatial placement.
Mixing
Mastering is the final stage of the song-making process. This is where you add the final polish to the mix and make sure it will be comparable in quality and loudness to other commercially released music.
After mixing during this process, it also ensures that your song sounds its best when played on all audio devices and streaming services like Spotify and YouTube. Mastering an album involves making sure that the songs are played back at the same level, so that there is a sense of flow between the songs. No song should ever be released without professional mastering.
Previously, to have your music professionally mixed and mastered, you had to make an appointment with a mixing engineer at a physical recording studio and sit with the engineer while he spent hours mixing the song. This meant that not only did you have to pay for hours of studio time at higher rates, but you also had to pay separately for the mixing and mastering of the song. Mastering is the final stage of the song-making process. This is where you add the final polish to the mix and make sure it will be comparable in quality and loudness to other commercially released music.
Why choose for online mixing and mastering service?
- Your songs will sound more clean, powerful, and warmer, and can compete with other songs by other great artists that have also been professionally mixed and mastered.
- Music is supposed to be a collaborative effort. Having an experienced mixing and mastering engineer work on your song can add new creative and sound differences that you may not have thought of yourself. These changes can make or break your song.
- The technical knowledge required to deliver a professionally mastered song for distribution can take years to learn and understand. Sometimes it’s better to leave your song to someone who knows all the rules, so you can spend more time on your creativity.

This portfolio does not contain the high-quality masters produced by us, because most of the previews you can listen online are SoundCloud and Beatport streams. The mastering portfolio is also a place for producers to get more exposure on their mastered tracks by AudiobyRay. If you did get your track mastered by us and like to have it in the mastering portfolio for extra exposure, let us know. FAQ Mastering
The shorter the release time for compression, the louder a signal will be. The reason is that it takes less time for amplitude to return to normal after being compressed. Short release times cause distortion but the effect can have a beneficial result.
The distortion will amplify the signal, causing it to sound even louder, but this may not be ideal. A good mid-ground for your release time is 50ms if you do not want any distortion.
The general consensus is to use a short release time for all compression, but each compressor has its own quirks and you should experiment with the right settings.

Mastering can do a lot for your song but it really can’t fix it. This has to do with several factors. For starters, a mastering engineer deals with a track on macro levels. It can not effectively fix issues on a micro level. As you can probably imagine, mastering can’t add delays to just your vocal track. Despite the skills and experience of a mastering engineer, getting a good result naturally also depends on the material they have to work with.
For those who have never heard of LANDR before, we’ll explain. It’s basically an online, automated mastering service. So, it doesn’t use human beings on the back end and it’s driven by an algorithm. You simply upload your tracks to this service and it automatically masters them. Then it allows you to download them instantly. Although it works okay, the system can never replace a real professional mastering engineer like audiobyray.com.
The first spot is taken bij Abbey Road Studios, which is of course one of the world’s most iconic (mastering) studios. Runner-up is BandLab, which has become popular among indie musicians and artist. The third place goes out to Landr, a completely online and on algorithm based mastering platform. Fourth is Cloudbound, a mastering tool that is available 24/7. On the fifth spot we find Metropolis Studios and last but not least is eMastered. But of course, you can always choose for personal contact with a professional mastering engineer like audiobyray.com.
Not everyone thinks the same on the matter of whether or not sending music into a professional mastering studio is a necessity. If the mix doesn’t need any modifying, this means that it is at a perfect volume level, the fades are well done, the EQ is consistent throughout, the compression is right on, and so on. In that case there’s no need for mastering. If these basics are not covered, audiobyray mastering can help you out.
Mastering is the final step of audio post-production. The purpose of audio mastering is to balance sonic elements of a stereo mix. Mastering helps to optimize playback across all systems and media formats. Traditionally, mastering uses several tools like equalization, limiting, compression and stereo enhancement. Audiobyray.com is a specialist in all of the above.
