boutique and I’ve got a quick tip
tutorial for you on using the reason
Rack chords and scales player to control
your other virtual instruments inside of
your da W this was a question that was
asked more than once on the other video
tutorials I’ve put out for this rack so
I’m just gonna cover that here real
quickly and the process is actually even
easier than it is with the video
tutorial about getting the matrix to
control your external vsts what I want
to do is I’ve got Reason rock on one
channel and what I’m gonna do is
actually just use the grand piano very
quickly drag and drop that here this
could be any instrument inside of
Ableton Live it could be serum or
whatever you have and what I want to do
is click the MIDI out device just double
click that and then I can come into the
browser let’s go to the player and add
scales and chords this is all ready to
go now I don’t have to do anything
behind here like I did with the matrix
this is all set up and ready to go the
only another thing I need to do now is
with whatever instrument you have loaded
here inside of able to live where it
says all-ins in this drop-down you go to
Reason rack and then the second
drop-down make sure to go to Reason rack
is again and turn the monitor to in and
then the last thing you need to do is
arm
the reason rack channel because we’re
going to be controlling this with our
MIDI keyboard then that MIDI is gonna
get fed into this channel to trigger
that device and now it works exactly as
it did before
we can really get crazy and get used
this to its full potential so if you’re
looking for more information about
scales and chords just go ahead and
watch the video tutorial have already
done but for those that were wondering
how to get it to trigger and control
your external VST eyes or you’re virtual
instruments inside of your day aw that’s
how easy it is to do anyway if you have
any other questions about this process

In this video tutorial, Joshua Casper shows you how to control your favorite VSTi virtual synth plugins with the Scales & Chords Player in the Reason Lite Rack Plugin.
The process is simple. One one MIDI channel load the Reason Lite Rack Plugin. Then add the MIDI Out Device and the Scales & Chords Player. That’s all that needs to be done in there.
On a second MIDI channel in your DAW add the instrument you wish to control. Then, in Ableton Live, in the MIDI In top drop down menu choose Reason Rack Plugin and again from the second drop down menu. FInally, set the monitor to IN.
Then make sure to Arm the Reason Rack MIDI channel.
Now, when you play Scales and/or Chords with the Scales & Chords Player they will trigger the instrument you have loaded on that second MIDI Channel.
