It has a multitude of saturation and distortion flavors. From subtle clean tube saturation to a distortion so aggressive it’s just called destroy. However, there is one called “smudge” which Joshua Casper draws your attention to in this video tutorial. Smudge can be used to add glitch effects to your audio to varying degrees. The drive and pan drive can really help to add interest and character to percussion, drums, vocals or really anything when added. This is perfect for the downtempo track featured in this video. Joshua adds extra motion and variability to this effect by using the XLFO modulator in Saturn’s modulation section.
