Protect your ears, you are worth it :) Your ears can only cope with a certain loudness for a certain time period before they suffer irreversible damage. You can get hearing damage and loss without feeling any pain. I try to remember 3 simple things when working to protect my ears. 1)Be aware that you will turn the volume up in a session as your ears lose sensitivity. Even turning the volume off or taking a break for a few minutes will let your ears re set. This way you will keep your volume from getting too high and prevent damage. 80% of the time in a session, I can talk to someone in the room without having to raise my voice or turn the music down (and I don’t have a loud voice). I turn the volume up for 20 or 30 minutes at a time when I’m doing important mixing. 2)Your ears are damaged by long exposure even if you don’t get any pain or headache. You cannot build up a resistance to noise exposure. The cells and nerves in your ear do not adapt like that. Taking breaks is the important thing here, every 30 – 60 minutes, take a 5 minute break, stretch your legs, move your body and drink some water, you’ll feel better for taking care of yourself :) 3)Your ears are permanently damaged by exposure to LOUD music/noises. A one off concert or gig will damage your ears for life. Wear discreet hearing protection ?(there are SO many options from £1 to £1000) You are worth it, look after yourself and remind yourself that YOUR ears are a huge asset. No matter what stage of life you are in, it’s never too late to protect your hearing :) ▶Support the channel and get early access to videos Patreon https://www.patreon.com/inthemix ▶Our Patrons Craig Taylor Clint Hughes Dewayne Jackson Jack Austin Laurent Paret Kevyn Cooling Jonathan Bjornson Louis Jans Salahadin ▶Our Wonderful Channel Designer – https://www.instagram.com/vivalucci ▶The Kit We Use: These links are the cheapest prices I can find. About In The Mix

In The Mix is all about simplifying the recording, production, mixing, and mastering process and helping you unlock your creativity. No matter which DAW you use or what equipment you have, I’m determined to help you succeed. I try to share as much as I can about the industry and give an insight into the world of music production and the business behind it by showing you how to release and sell your music online. Being an FL Studio Power User I also focus tutorials on getting the most out of FL Studio, My DAW of choice. Micahel Wynne is a recording artist and mixing engineer with a passion for teaching (and instant ramen). In 2015 I discovered my enthusiasm for music and audio; I learned how to record and produce songs in my university student room with a just cheap laptop and FL Studio. After several months of working in audio sessions between school assignments, I decided to leave uni with a 2-year engineering diploma to pursue a career in music. I wanted to learn everything I could about the industry and the artistic process, so I started making original music as half of the duo “Miavono”. In late 2016 I began my journey on YouTube, sharing my knowledge and experiences with audio in the form of tutorials on “In The Mix”. I quickly grew a community of over 120,000 producers, artists, and audio professionals, a group of people whose passions aligned with mine. Last year I built my own home studio from the ground up in my back garden, set in the rural highlands of Scotland, and have since been supported by and involved with some of the greatest people in the industry.
