CORE as the general-purpose Usynth title

Usynth CORE is the broad studio option in the series. Instead of targeting one genre, it covers foundational basses, polysynths, leads, arpeggios and supporting textures. The sound set was led by veteran sound designer Peter Gorges, whose contribution is documented by UJAM. That makes CORE useful as a first Usynth title for producers who want common musical roles before collecting narrower aesthetics.

The breadth still benefits from an arrangement-first approach. Search for a bass when the track needs low-end character, not when it already has three competing bass layers. Choose a poly patch for chord clarity, a lead for a hook and an arp for rhythmic motion. A general-purpose library becomes more efficient when browsing is driven by the missing job rather than by preset spectacle.

Sequencer, modulation and one-finger chords

CORE includes a customizable sequencer, two individual layers per note and a Finisher with 90 presets. The sequencer can create immediate patterns, but the chord, register, note length and timing should be adapted to the record. Strip back delay and effects while judging the underlying phrase, then rebuild the processing after it locks with the drums.

Each preset has modulation assignments chosen by the sound designer and accessible from a keyboard modulation wheel. Record that movement as performance data or DAW automation so repeated parts develop across the section. The Chord function can trigger prepared voicings from one key. It is useful for sketching and live input, but producers should still check inversions and bass notes so the harmony works with the arrangement rather than remaining a generic block chord.

A deep engine with a deliberately small dashboard

The shared Usynth engine supports layered virtual-analogue, wavetable, FM and multisample synthesis with filtering, envelopes and modulation behind the front panel. CORE exposes selected macro controls instead of a complete technical editor. One move can reshape several hidden parameters while staying inside a useful range.

This makes CORE fast for songwriting, beatmaking and media composition. It is not the best choice for sound designers who want to program every oscillator and route from scratch. Use a deeper synth for that task and let CORE handle familiar studio roles that should not interrupt the creative flow.

Mixing an all-purpose palette

Because CORE covers many sound types, mixing decisions depend on the role. Keep bass fundamentals controlled and mono where appropriate. Shorten polyphonic releases around chord changes, reduce upper-midrange competition with vocals and test wide pads in mono. For arps, automate width and ambience by section rather than leaving a full effect active throughout the track.

CORE is also a practical resampling source. Print a sequence, chop it into percussion or layer a filtered poly patch behind a vocal. These techniques turn a general preset into track-specific material. The value of a broad library is not that every sound must remain recognizable; it is that useful raw material is close at hand.

Installation, DAWs and current requirements

CORE installs through the UJAM App and appears inside the shared Usynth frame. UJAM currently lists Windows 10 and Windows 11, macOS Monterey through macOS Tahoe, Intel and Apple-silicon support, and 64-bit AAX, AU 2, VST 2 and VST 3 formats. Major DAWs include Ableton Live, Logic Pro, Pro Tools, FL Studio, Cubase, Studio One, Bitwig, Reaper and Reason.

A 1280×768 display and internet connection are required. The current product page states that moving the blob file to an external drive is not supported. Check UJAM’s live compatibility data before purchase. CORE is most compelling when a producer wants one flexible Usynth palette with documented sound-design pedigree and a fast path from idea to arranged part.
