What Virtual Guitarist CINEDREAM is
UJAM Virtual Guitarist CINEDREAM turns recorded guitar performance into ambient textures, evolving pads, pulses and emotional underscore. The source is real guitar, but the instrument is designed to move beyond recognizable strumming. It combines 30 cinematic styles, five amp models, contour and dynamics controls, Instrument Mode and two multi-effect sections.
CINEDREAM is therefore closer to a playable soundscape instrument than a conventional rhythm-guitar plug-in. It can support film, trailers, games, ambient music and pop productions that need organic motion without an obvious synth or orchestral identity.
Style mode and Instrument Mode
Style mode performs slow phrases, random fingerpicking and driving rhythmic material from held notes or chords. It is useful for reaching a coherent cinematic bed quickly. Instrument Mode gives more direct note-level input for custom melodies, detailed edits and layered parts.
Choose by arrangement need. Use a style when the cue requires evolving motion and the exact notes are less important. Use Instrument Mode when the top line, rhythm or edit point must be controlled precisely. Render both approaches and combine selected moments rather than leaving two complete performances active.
Contour and dynamics
The Contour control moves between slow attacks and longer sustains, allowing a patch to fade in as a pad or speak more clearly as a pulse. Dynamics reshapes how the performance responds. Automate these controls around picture or song sections: soften the attack under dialogue, sharpen it at a transition and extend sustain across a scene change.
Record real-time movement with a controller when possible. A performed swell often feels more connected to the harmony than a static envelope. Edit the best pass afterwards and print the result to audio for precise placement.
Amp models and multi-effects
Five amp models range from clean shimmer to distorted grit. The Stomp Box section handles familiar tone shaping, while the Finisher can create ambient clouds, drones and animated texture. Begin with the cleaner guitar source so the phrase and harmony are audible, then add processing until it serves the scene.
Compare effects at equal loudness and keep a dry or lightly processed print. Long reverbs and delays can create impressive size but obscure dialogue or chord changes. High-pass texture layers that do not need low end and automate effect returns through transitions.
Scoring and Where it fits in a production
For film and games, CINEDREAM can provide beds under dialogue, emotional transitions, tension pulses and organic layers beneath synths or orchestra. For trailers, print several rising or distorted variations and align the strongest moments to editorial hits. In ambient music, let one style evolve slowly and resample the tail into a separate drone.
Pop producers can use a narrow texture behind a chorus, a reverse swell into a vocal or a rhythmic guitar pulse underneath electronic drums. The guitar origin adds human irregularity, while the effects prevent the result from sounding like a standard strumming part.
Mixing cinematic guitar textures
Assign the part a depth role. A foreground pulse needs transient clarity; a background soundscape can be darker and more diffuse. Check stereo width in mono, control resonant upper mids and remove low-frequency energy that competes with bass, drums or orchestral impacts.
If several CINEDREAM layers are used, vary contour, amp and register. Do not stack full-spectrum clouds. Print stems for guitar source, processed texture and long ambience when the mix may need independent control.
Documented composer context
UJAM’s official page includes a testimonial from film and videogame composer Haukur Karlsson and associates him there with God of War: Ragnarök and How It Ends. He describes CINEDREAM as useful for polished, distinctive texture. AudiobyRay reports that documented testimonial without claiming that every named project used the plug-in.
The product page also states that CINEDREAM is not affiliated with the CineDream color-grading software. That distinction is relevant when researching the product name.
Current system requirements
UJAM currently lists Windows 10 and Windows 11, macOS Monterey through macOS Tahoe, Intel and Apple-silicon support, and 64-bit VST 2, VST 3, AAX and AU 2 formats. A 1280×768 display and internet connection are required. UJAM recommends an SSD when moving supported sample content to external storage.
Installation and authorization use the UJAM App, with a downloadable installer route also documented. Major DAWs listed by UJAM include Ableton Live, Logic Pro, Pro Tools, FL Studio, Cubase, Studio One, Bitwig, Reaper and Reason. Verify the live page before purchase or a system update.
Who should buy CINEDREAM?
The instrument suits composers, producers and sound designers who want organic cinematic texture without recording and processing multiple guitar passes. It is especially useful when ambient movement must be created quickly and recalled across revisions.
A conventional guitar title is better for exposed strumming or riff work, while a modular sound-design tool offers deeper routing. CINEDREAM occupies the middle: realistic guitar-derived performance shaped into a focused cinematic instrument. Test a complete scene or song section, not only an isolated preset, before deciding.
Session workflow for faster revisions
Record the harmonic performance first, then automate Contour, Dynamics and effects on a second pass. That separation keeps the musical idea editable while letting the texture follow picture cuts or arrangement changes. Capture a dry or restrained version alongside the designed sound whenever a client may request less ambience later.
Save descriptive preset notes with tempo, key and intended scene role. Consolidate approved passages with their effect tails and archive the MIDI performance. In collaborative sessions, this gives an editor or mix engineer a usable audio stem without requiring the instrument, while the producer retains a fully recallable source track.
