Arturia
Hey guys it’s Jacob here from Arturia and in this video, we’ll do an overview
of our newest audio plug-in Rev PLATE-140.
Let’s get into it!
Plate reverbs became popular in the 60s and since then they have been one of the
most used reverbs in all professional studios.
Now let me take you through its functions to see what it can do and why you should give it a try.
As you can see Rev PLATE-140 carefully emulates the look and feel of the
original units to guarantee the best user experience.
In the top left corner, we can see the drop-down menu where we can save, import or export our presets,
as well as resize the window so it fits our screen.
Next up we have a few browsing controls to manage the presets.
We can seek through them by entering the browser,
unfolding the presets lists or by using the left and right arrows.
Rev PLATE-140 comes with a couple of parameters that guarantee ease-of-use and fantastic sonic results.
The power switch lets you bypass the plug-in at any given time.
The drive introduces very warm tube saturation at the input of the reverb,
including gain compensation to maintain a constant perceived level.
Next block provides three different plate types:
The punchy one comes with a tight field that’s well suited for the percussive sounds.
The classic EMT provides more lush sound inspired by the famed EMT 140.
And the modern type gives a brighter sound with enhanced high-frequency decay times.
There’s also a decay parameter here which works within the range of one to six seconds.
Blend knob determines the ratio between the dry and wet signal and width sets
the stereo width of the reverb rated signal from stereo to mono.
The additional Arturia features are available for everyone who’s willing to
experiment and go a bit deeper with their mixes or sound design.
On the left side, we have a pre-delay and high-pass filter knobs.
The middle section contains the chorus modulation with the pre/post switches and a knob that sets the amount.
The final feature brings a post equalizer with high and low shelf cutoff
with a gain range from minus 24 to – 24 Db.
Enough talk let’s see how it sounds!
When approaching drum sounds the recommended model would be the punchy one
as it provides a bit drier feel, but obviously there are no creative limits here.
What I also like to do with the drums is to add the drive tube to the signal so
it becomes a bit more saturated. Let’s try it out!
A very cool result, highly recommended for anyone wanting to experiment with
the rhythmic sections and percussive sounds.
A nice tip here would be to use
the wet only signal to create a little break feel, let’s work on that now.
First off we need to set the blend knob the maximum wet then set the decay to 1.5,
and use the high-pass filter in the extension rack to get rid of the rumbling lows.
We can also introduce a bit of the pre-delay for the additional groove feel.
Now, all we need to do is to create a new audio track and
set its audio inputs to the original breakbeat track with the reverb on.
Once this is done we can take the audio with the wet only signal and manipulate it.
All that’s left to do is to find a nice moment, reverse it and place it at the
end of the original drum track.
We can also play around with its tuning, volume and add a little bit of delay and reverb send as well.
Let’s listen to it now!
Here we go, a very cool way to come up with a personal sounding riser that will be a
bit different than the typical laser or reversed crushed sound.
Moving on, let’s see how the reverb will behave with vocals for this case we’ll start with
the classic EMT model that’s usually perfect for voices.
Pretty universal as you can hear.
One of my favorite ways when approaching this type of vocal is to crunch it up a bit with the maximum drive setting
and then use the rudder of small decay time with the pre-delay sets to higher values.
Let’s listen!
Sounds very cool!
This way we’ve achieved a very nice lo-fi signal with
the additional groove and punch created by the drive and pre-delay parameters.
At the end, I want to show you how the chorus modulation can influence your pad or string sounds.
I’m going to play this small bit now and increase the
modulation amount so you can notice how it will change the character of the sound.
Very lush and big sounding.
One more thing, let’s listen to a couple of more
classic sounds with the Rev 140 on and another track to hear how the vocal part
with the PLATE will cut through the mix.
Hopefully, this demo will give you a nice insight into the quality of our virtual reverb.
We’ve tried pretty hard to make this effect as versatile as
possible and we are pretty sure you gonna have a lot of fun with it.
Thanks for watching and see you soon!

They can also process external signals like the MicroBrute does. You won’t be able to use its knobs or sliders, they don’t send MIDI. If you want an analog mono synth that can also act as a basic MIDI controller you need a digitally controlled one.

Minilab and latest GaragebandThe Analog Lab software standalone, outside garagebandworks perfectly, also with the older garageband. Other than that, the Minilab hardware works great on garageband 10.0. 2, and any other audio unit plugin i have works fine.

Thomas@ArturiaOn MacOSX, programs are stored in /Library/Preferences/Prophet-V2/save. On Windows Vista and Seven, programs are stored in %ProgramData%\Arturia\Prophet-V2\save. By default, %ProgramData% is C:\ProgramData. Creating a backup of these files is a good approach

Connect your MicroBrute to your computer via the USB connection. Make sure not to use a USB hub. Launch the MIDI Control Center.

Alongside these, you’ll find a conventional five-pin MIDI input and a bi-directional MIDI/USB port that allows you to use the MicroBrute as a tiny remote keyboard. Remarkably, it’s both polyphonic and velocity-sensitive when used in this fashion, and also sends pitch-bend, mod wheel, and octave information.

Featuring sounds from all 21 faithfully modeled vintage keyboards, combining awe-inspiring sound with exceptional ease of use and awesome features.

Analog Lab is clearly a bargain even with 40 presets less and also great for finding sounds if you have the V Collection. But it adds latency compared to the full instruments (about 0.7 ms tested and measured)… not that it’s obvious but it is a wrapper and probably meant more as a demo

Arturia MiniLab w/Analog Lab VST. The MiniLab seems to work great in FL as a generic controller. However, it’s a bit of a pain to get it to play nicely with Analog Lab VST…it *doeswork, it just isn’t as convenient as it ought to be and setting up the VST isn’t all that intuitive.

Getting started with the KeyLab Essential is simple and straightforward, but Arturia are always here to help. In this video, Guy Perchard gives a quick overview of the controller, and guides you through its setup.
